Climate

cliquez pour agrandir

The season’s notion lose a little bit its meaning in the inter tropical zone and it exists two main periods: a dry season and wet season. The importance of each period changes depending on the 3 geographical zones that divide the country.

On the coastal part, the falls are nearly inexistent and the climate is dry. In Lima, a humid fog, the famous GARUA, envelope the city from April to November and is particularly important in August when the temperatures are included between 13 and 17 degrees. The other months, the temperatures fluctuate in the capital, between 20 and 26 degrees.

In the Andes (The Sierra) the contrast between humid months and the dry season is more evident. From April to September, the climate is dry; the falls being more important the other months of the year, particularly in December and January. The contrast of temperatures is as well more obvious that on the Coast and the difference between day and night is important during dry season (about 20 degrees during the day when the temperatures border on 0 during the night)

Finally, in the Amazonian part, the rains are heavy from January to March and exceptional the other months. The temperatures are higher than in the 2 others geographical regions and often overpass the 30 degrees by day to be situated between 20 and 26 degrees by night.
